Mark your calendars now and get ready to apply for newly announced state aid grants of up to $10,000 that are going to be made available next week.

The application and related information is now posted on line in order to give hard hit small businesses plenty of time to gather the necessary documents and complete the forms.

The submission process will begin at 9 a.m. on June 9, 2020.

What you need to know: The New Jersey Economic Development Authority will be offering $45 million from the federal government on a first-come, first-serve basis. Another $5 million would go to approximately 6,000 applicants who were waitlisted after the first round of grant funding.

Who qualifies: Businesses with no more than 25 employees that were in operation on February 15, 2020 and have promised not to layoff or furlough any employees for six months after the end of the Covid-19 emergency will be asked to demonstrate the economic hardship they have suffered as a result of the outbreak, providing bills and other expenses that could not be paid without the grant money. All business types, including nonprofits, home-based businesses and sole proprietorships will be considered for this grant.
