On November 30, 2022, Forbes released its annual report entitled, America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms, edited by Erik Sherman. “I am proud to announce that SobelCo is one of only four New Jersey firms to be elected to the 2023 Forbes list,” noted Alan Sobel, SobelCo managing partner, in his recent announcement to the staff.
“Knowing that more than 4,000 recommendations were considered overall, we are very pleased to be recognized as one of the top firms in the country. Since our founding in 1956 we have always upheld our reputation as a high-quality firm, one that adheres to core values and a strong culture of caring,” he concluded.
How Firms are Selected
To ensure a comprehensive and meaningful list of America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms 2023, Forbes partnered with Statista, a market research company, to gain key insights into the accounting and tax profession. Statists invited close to 30,000 professionals, including CPAs, enrolled agents, tax attorneys, accountants, and CFOs who worked for a tax or accounting firm, to participate in the survey. Those surveyed were asked to name up to ten firms for tax and ten firms for accounting that they would recommend if their own firm was not able to take on a client. In addition, Statista also asked participants who worked in private industry to name up to 10 firms each in tax and accounting that they would recommend based on their professional experience during the last three years. About 4,500 recommendations were considered for the final decision on inclusion.
After this exhaustive process was complete, the resulting lists “America’s Best Tax Firms 2023” and “America’s Best Accounting Firms 2023” are based on the number of recommendations received and additional company data.
