SobelCo Internships
HAVE FUN WHILE LEARNING ON THE JOB
What’s the real-life experience of working at a mid-sized regional accounting firm? At SobelCo, we have two internship programs that will fully immerse you in our day-to-day world.
The SobelCo Audit Summer Internship combines mentoring, hands-on learning, and a philanthropy team-building project. During this season, you will learn assurance skills while working as part of the audit team. The internship is open to accounting students who are completing their Junior year of college.
The SobelCo Tax Season Internships provide students with experience working in a tax department during the busiest time of the year. All accounting students are welcome to apply for our Administrative Scanning position, where your primary responsibility is to scan and organize tax documents received from clients. In addition, the Tax Preparation position is open to accounting students who have taken a tax course. During the internship, you will get exposed to verifying tax data and preparing tax returns.
We want the time you spend with us to be educational and enjoyable, a way to make connections, get to know us, and have a good time.
The knowledge I gained during the three months of my internship was so valuable when starting this new career. From day one, I gained hands-on experience working with the Audit team and clients that we service. I was able to go out to clients in the field, work on the audit, and interact with the staff daily, so I always felt like a valued member of the team. In addition, I met so many people around the office, and everyone was so welcoming whenever I approached them with questions. I learned so many valuable things being an intern that I now carry on into my career here at SobelCo. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to participate in such an excellent internship program!

My SobelCo internship was not only an enjoyable experience but also very insightful and beneficial. As a Client Accounting and Advisory Services intern, I worked on various tasks, including prepping 1099s, working in QuickBooks, and preparing individual tax returns. Besides getting hands-on experience, what I enjoyed about the internship was the culture at SobelCo. Each person in the office was inviting and eager to help and grow my knowledge in the field of accounting. During my internship, I worked closely with all levels of staff, from seniors to directors to partners. Not only did they thoroughly answer my questions about the engagements I worked on, but they also gave me advice about the CPA exam and what to expect as a future CPA. I have taken these valuable insights and applied them to my current position at the firm. Aside from that, working alongside other interns made the experience even more memorable and allowed us to help each other, learn together, and share ideas. I remember starting my internship nervous and uncertain of what to expect, but I left my internship with confidence and excited to begin my new role and career in accounting.

SobelCo exceeded all my expectations! From the partners to the staff, they showed a willingness to help and focus on teamwork. In addition, it was evident that the firm cares not only about its clients but also about its employees. My favorite experiences were going into the field with the team twice and working on the intern philanthropy project at the Turtle Back Zoo! Overall great staff, great clients, and a great experience!
