Performance at Large (PAL) is SobelCo’s performance management program for all practice groups and levels. The program focuses on the relationship between the Player and Coach. Each Player at the firm is assigned a Coach that is responsible for professional development, mentoring, goal setting, and feedback. PAL includes targeted competencies built around each staff level, changing for each promotion. Throughout the year, players receive feedback on engagements they work on, which gets compiled into an annual review through TrakStar Perform.
SLIDE is a fully functional online educational guide for all employees of all levels, backgrounds, and expertise. SLIDE is a collection of learning paths that guide employees to suggested essential competencies, developmental activities, and courses linked to our Learning Management System–Prolaera. Department team leaders selected these courses from the course catalog in Prolaera and other e-learning platforms. It is encouraged that employees speak with their coaches about integrating SLIDE into an individual learning plan that supports their current role and goals.
One of our goals is to help build future leaders. To do this we augment the traditional technical skills training with special programs designed to enhance the building of “soft skills” which are so critical for good leadership. We conduct some programs internally while also enrolling our future leaders in highly structured leadership courses offered through PKF International.
Our staff benefits from excellent training opportunities – internal and external as well as local and national – in scope. In addition, our staff participates in professional development programs offered by the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institution for Certified Public Accountants, and other related sources. We also take advantage of the training programs available through our membership with Allinial Global.
